What documents will I need to apply for a rental property?

Once you’ve found a property you like and have attended an inspection,
you will need to fill in an application form and be prepared to provide
additional documents. These documents may include:

              • Identification
This could include: Photo identification such as your driver’s licence or passport, your Medicare card, your birth certificate, car registration
                or health care card.
              • Professional/personal references
Names and contact details for people who will give you a positive rental reference (from past properties) or personal reference.
              • Bank statements and pay slips to show proof of income. Pays slips could come from your employer or a Centrelink income statement.
              • Copies of recent rent receipts/rates notices
              • Copies of previous utility accounts
              • A tenancy or rental ledger that shows your ability to pay rent regularly and on time.
              • Copies of previous utility accounts

Keep in mind, if you are going to lease a property with other individuals, you will also need all their necessary paperwork
included in their finished application forms.

Furthermore, having a finished set of paperwork for all applicants will improve your likelihood of reaching the
top of the list of applicants and secure you the property you’re dreaming of.
